Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics") said that the lithium ion battery with high specific energy and wide temperature range developed by Chen Zhongwei, director of the National Key Laboratory of Energy Catalytic Conversion, successfully adapted to the new industrial composite wing UAV designed by Shenyang Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and successfully completed its test flight in Changhai County, Dalian.


The team leader introduced to the reporter that the high specific energy lithium battery carried by the drone has an energy density of up to 400Wh/kg, which increases the drone's endurance by 20% to 40%. The battery module has an energy density of 340Wh/kg and can work stably in a wide temperature range of -40 ℃ to 60 ℃. During the test flight, the drone successfully completed the takeoff, climb, high-speed cruise, landing and other testing stages, and completed a high-quality 3-hour flight test, fully verifying the high-efficiency energy storage capacity and operational stability of the high energy density lithium battery.


This test flight demonstrated a significant technological breakthrough in the field of unmanned aerial vehicle power supply at Dalian Chemical Institute, injecting strong power into the low altitude economic industry chain. It is reported that in order to achieve high energy density and meet strict wide temperature range requirements, the R&D team has made breakthroughs in multiple core technologies. The successful application of high specific energy wide temperature range lithium batteries provides reliable power support for unmanned aerial vehicles in cold regions, emergency rescue, patrol monitoring and other application scenarios, and also opens up broad application space for electric aviation, high-end equipment manufacturing and other fields.
